As part of the strategic follow-up to the excellence partnership between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and AS Monaco, Minister of Sports and Leisure Didier Budimbu held a working visit on Wednesday 28 October 2026 at the Principality club’s performance and training centre.

Following the success of the first training module for Congolese educators and coaches held in Kinshasa, the visit formed part of an evaluation, consolidation and operational planning process.

Alongside the discussions, Minister Didier Budimbu met young talents of Congolese origin at the Monaco academy, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to creating direct pathways for the country’s sporting youth to the highest level of international competition.

  • Strengthening scouting and talent identification mechanisms across the DRC;
  • Organising reciprocal immersions: welcoming Congolese young prospects at the La Turbie centre and hosting immersion stays for the Monaco academy in Kinshasa.
